2C-B

A synthetic psychedelic drug 2C family, first created by Alexander Shulgin in 1974. First used as an aid in therapy for its qualities of having a relatively short duration, generally more manageable effects, and low incidence of side effects. It soon became popular as a recreational drug, and has been sold as and confused with MDMA. Although their effects are distinct, both are inhibitors of the serotonin transporter. Although the efficacy of 2C-B or other members of the 2C family in therapeutic settings remains largely untested/undocumented, academic research has picked up on it in recent years.
