Late diagnosis
When someone has been diagnosis with either a disease or a disorder at a later point in their life when it should have been detected earlier for optimal results. If a disease is diagnosed late, late stage symptoms could have already begun to take effect and treatment might not be as effective or not work at all. A late stage diagnosis in a disorder such as autism might occur because the signs of autism become more obvious with age. If autism is diagnosed late, it might be too late to take advantage of additional learning or assistance from the schooling education system.
