Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)

A recent form of therapy used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder.  The patient will recall and talk about past traumatic events as they follow the hand motion of the therapist back and forth with their eyes.  This technique is said to be associated with reducing the vividness and emotions tied to the traumatic memories.
