Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI)
The intentional destruction of one’s own body without the intent of suicide. Common cases are cutting, burning, scratching, as well as banging or hitting parts of their own body. This condition is typically associated with emotional and psychiatric distress. It is also most common among adolescents and young adults.
